I'm still not entirely certain what you're looking for in the first graph. Have a look at this graph Image:RfAVotingTrends.png and let me know if it is what you were after. For the voting patterns by day; I do not keep track of when votes are made, just tallies, so I don't have that data. I do keep track of when the nominations were made, and did a graph on that Image:NominationsByWeekday.png. Let me know if these help. User:Durin/RfA results has a listing of much of the date from June 23 forward, and shows what kind of data I am collecting on each RfA. Hi. Could you please revisit Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Yarralumla, Australian Capital Territory I believe most of your objections have now rectified. Thanks. --Martyman-(talk) 03:58, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
- This is a suburb article, about a small area. It is not unreasonable to include more detail than you would about a city. I feel strongly that both the things you want removed from the article are appropriate for article at this level of detail. The embassy table is a compact and neat way of letting the reader know which embassies are located in the suburb without having to fish through Diplomatic missions in Canberra. --Martyman-(talk) 09:40, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] India images
I'm not happy with the images in the India article. There are 3 images for the history section -- 3 images just for one topic and all 3 of them are structures. Take the example of the one for the demographic section, the caption says that Hinduism is the largest professed religion in India but the image shows a woman passing by some local Hindu temple. The image is not appropiate as it partially describes the topic concerned. Same goes for the ones on the Himalayas and the Gumpa dance. The image on the Himalayas focusses on some wood-house and not on the Himalayas in the background. One can hardly make out anything about sikkmese culture by that image on the gumpa dance. We have 3 images showing the map of India; one signifing India's location on the globe, 2nd showing the important cities in India and the 3rd showing states and union territiories. Why cant we have a single political map of India showing the states and the important cities. Also, an image on the parliament or the rajpath is more appropiate for the politics section. Thanks --Deepak|वार्ता 01:24, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- I understand. Even I'm busy with my studies and devoting time for wikipedia is becoming more and more difficult. It's not about whether we should have an image on NE culture or not, it's about whether the images describe their subject or not. I'm sure we can have a better image depicting the North East, the Himalayas and Hinduism. I went through the articles on US, UK, France and People's Republic of China and I felt that the quality of the India article was no where near to theirs. Also notice the smaller size of images in these articles. Thanks --Deepak|वार्ता 17:14, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

- Nichalp coterie has been formed by Zora and other muslims on rajput page. She has accused me of anti muslim bias/Hindu POV etc and I have asked her and her buddies to point out passages that support her claim and also some citations to support her refutations. None has come forth. She ridicules James Tod/Dashratha Sharma/LS Rathore as historians. Though she has not read there books. She claims Rajputs are 12 million where last census shows 40 million. She is clueless how important vansha/cula/shakha/gotra-acharya is to rajputs and calls it confusing. Lately she has been blatantly acccusing me of using pseudonyms in editing wiki. I have challenged her and her buddies to prove these claims. No response. To me she appears very partisan and totally clueless. She is towing the muslim line from the moment she started chiming on the rajput page. Some ridiculous claims: Muslims are rajputs. Ghoris descendants are rajputs. Prithivraj begged Ghori for his life. Majority of rajputs converted to Islam by musilm saints. List is really long. Shivraj Singh 16:28, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: China map
>Hi! You drawing Image:ChinaGeography.png is unfortunately a POV as it does not reflect the >true territorial status of the dispute between India and China. Could you have the Aksai Chin >and Arunachal Pradesh regions marked on the map please? Thanks. =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:08, 19 >November 2005 (UTC)
Hi, Nichalp. I understand your concern about the land dispute between our home countries. In fact, ChinaGeography.png is showing the line of actual control of China. The point of view is kind of neutral. Of course, it would be better if all the maps in Wikipedia can neutrally show the status of land dispute in more detail. At this moment, a lot of map drawn by Chinese people marked Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh as part of China, while a lot of map drawn by Indian people marked them as part of India. For example, this map marks the entire territory of Arunachal Pradesh as part of India. I know a lot of people would not be happy about that, but it would be a lot of work if we have to add the information about the land disputes on all of them. Do you have any idea for how to deal with this problem? Should we set up a small group in Wikipedia and have some people concentrating on adding the information about the border disputes on all the maps? I understand that this land dispute (due to historical reason, maybe because of the British) sometimes brings Chinese people and Indian people into arguments, or even conflicts. Let us calm down first, and try to work out something to deal with the neutrality in Wikipedia. Last but not the least, I hope the Governments of the two countries can completely resolve the dispute some time in the future. Thanks for bringing out this matter for discussion. -Alanmak 21:50, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hey
I have noticed that a page about the esport personality Jeremy Krantz has been deleted and I needed to check his page out for a college homework assignment for my research paper on cyber athletes. Could you please either reactivate it or state why he doesn't have a page. I mean, Andreas Thorstensson is as valuable of a member as Jeremy Krantz and he has his own wikipedia page.
Thanks.

- I don't have any idea why this has happened. Is he notable? =Nichalp «Talk»= 12:34, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Yes he is, especially within esports (electronic sports) and the gaming community. He's one of the top members. Please re-add him so I can use wikipedia as a source for quoting about Krantz.
Regards,
Oliver S.
Hi Oliver, sorry for the late reply. I did a google search on Jeremy and found that he is not notable enough to merit a place in Wikipedia. See wikipedia:notability. Furthermore, there was no article on Jeremy Krantz to begin with here on wikipedia. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 12:00, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: China map
>Hi. I know there is a problem with the maps. The problem is that we have too few cartographers. (I know that map of mine is unclear, a lot of my old ones are). I have had fruitful discussions with user:ran ,user:Ankur and we've agreed to have all maps of Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh NPOV'd. I suggest we create blank NPOV maps of India, China, Pakistan in svg format and make it a template for others to use. I've already released my states of India images as NPOV. What if we create a wikiproject to deal with such issues? Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 05:33, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
I believe that it would be a good idea to set up a project or a group to work on the maps involving China, India and Pakistan. It is very constructive way to deal with the problem. We may call for some Chinese, Indian and Pakistani folks to work on this project. But apart from the maps drawn by the users in Wikipedia, we also have to deal with the maps that were taken from some sources outside Wikipedia, and those maps in the external links. As you know, as this is the English Wikipedia, those sources outside Wikipedia are usually some organizations in the United States - one of the most important English-speaking countries. But during the cold war, the United States was an ally of India, but on the opposite side of China. So, their point of view was always pro-India. Whenever there was a land dispute between China and India, they always marked the disputed area as part of India. Here is an example. :-) It would be better if we can deal with the neutrality in the maps from the external sources also. Again, thank you for bringing up this matter for discussion. By the way, do you have some kind of instant messengers like MSN Messenger, AIM or Yahoo Messenger? It is more convenient if we can discuss about those issue in details through an instant messenger.

Hi - I don't know if you are into biographies, but this chap, the last surviving Indian recipient of the Victoria Cross, died on Monday and deserves a decent article - not least for managing to get the pension for recipients increased for the first time in 35 years! He has a crop of obituaries from most of the UK broadsheet newspapers, but some Indian sources would be great, and verification of the Indian geographical details (about which I am quite ignorant). We also seem to be missing a page for subedar-major or subedar major. -- ALoan (Talk) 21:09, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Maps (cont'd)
> Apologies for the late reply. Yeah, I know, we do have a lot of POV maps floating around. we have to leave the past behind and concentrate on getting NPOV maps in WP. First we'd need NPOV political maps of Asia, India, China and Pakistan. I'd strongly suggest we use the .svg format for maps. Once we do that, we can use those to create blank maps of states/provinces. We'd also need do the same to maps of Myanmar, Bhutan and Afghanistan since they border the disputed areas. Once we get this basic infrastructure in place, we should advertise it so that it can be used as the template. On the topographic front User:Captain Blood has been kind enough to supply NPOV topo maps of India, Nepal and Bhutan.
Good idea.
> As for images sourced from external sites, there's nothing much we can do if its on an external site. If its on wikipedia, we can redraw the maps on the svg templates.
Yes, I would suggest having some of our fellow Wikipedians to redraw the maps that were taken from external web sites.
