Talk:Nicky Winmar

the gushing praise tone needs to be waterd down a bit. "prolific player with exquisite skills".02:58, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, he was highly skilled. Also I think the reference to racism is a fair one. Nicky did show the colour of his skin as a reaction to a racist remark.
- Yes, the racist thing is very relevant as it was in the news a lot. I meant the hagiography style of the article.Blnguyen 04:28, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
I would like to say that the "prolific player with exquisite skills" is spot on. In my opinion Nicky Winmar is the most skilful and exciting indigenous player to ever play Australian rules.
C'mon - he was bloody skillful!! leave it alone and let's just get on with it. ρ¡ρρµ δ→θ∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 12:18, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- Allow me to quote from the Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers: ...running second in the best and fairest in his first two years then winning the award in 1989. He won it again in 1995. His silky skills covered the full range of football. A breathtaking mark, glorious kick and magical in his ball handling.... Allow me to assure all and sundry that Jim Main doesn't hand out such superlatives unless there is a good reason for doing so. ρ¡ρρµ δ→θ∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 12:29, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Pippu on this one, what do we have to do? Quote Winmar's kicking efficiency % throught his career (such stats didn't exist in the 80s and early 90s) TheRealAntonius 03:31, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- After making a small adjustment (replacing the adjective "fantastic") I have taken off the POV warning - I'll leave it to others to decide whether a mention of his excellent skills should make a reappearance - in my opinion, the article is lacking without some sort of mention. ρ¡ρρµ δ→θ∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 05:03, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NTFL
What NTFL club did Winmar play with after his AFL career ? I remember he played in Darwin, but not sure which team. --Rulesfan 00:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
