[edit] Biography

Nicole Faraday was born in Germany in 1977 to British parents. Her father, a consultant doctor, was a medical officer in the Royal Air Force working on a British base in Germany at the time of her birth. The family later moved back to her mother's home town of Swanage in Dorset. Nicole trained in musical theatre at the Guildford School of Acting.

[edit] Acting roles

From 2002-2003 Faraday was a principal cast member of both ITV's Bad Girls (playing prison inmate Snowball Merriman in series 4 and 5) and the BBC's Casualty (as woefully incompetent senior house officer, Heather Lincoln). She has also played Shell Dockley in the stage musical version of Bad Girls, a role played (as a non-musical part) in Series 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the television series by Debra Stephenson.

Nicole won a prestigious TMA theatre award in October 2006 for best supporting actress in a musical for her portrayal of Shell at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

[edit] Trivia

Faraday's character in Bad Girls was in many ways reminiscent of a previous Larkhall prison inmate, Shell Dockley - the character later played by Faraday in the Bad Girls Musical. When the character of Shell returned to the TV series for several episodes in series 5 (after being recaptured after having escaped from prison and spending some time on the run in Europe) the strong physical resemblance between Nicole Faraday and Debra Stephenson and the very similar styling of their characters was worked into the script as a joke:

SHELL (about Snowball): "Cheeky slag! Swanning about, nicking my look. Who does she think she is? Me?!"

Nicole is an accomplished singer and has played Eva Cassidy, ABBA's Agnetha, Marilyn Monroe and Karen Carpenter among other theatre roles.
