Nicktoons Unite! (known as SpongeBob and Friends: Unite! in Europe) is a video game featuring Danny Phantom (the titular character from the TV series) , SpongeBob SquarePants (the titular character from the TV series) , Timmy Turner (from The Fairly OddParents), and Jimmy Neutron (from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius) along with their perspective arch-enemies like Vlad Plasmius, Sheldon J. Plankton, Denzel Q. Crocker, and Professor Finbarr Calamitous. The gameplay of the console versions is quite similar to X-Men Legends albeit more simplistic (obviously due to the fact that it was geared towards a younger audience) and with a larger emphasis on puzzles.

[edit] Story

When Professor Finbarr Calamitous steals Jimmy Neutron's plans for the 'Universe Portal Machine', the evil genius constructs his own version of the device to recruit an inter-dimensional band of baddies made up of Vlad Plasmius, Sheldon J. Plankton, and Denzel Q. Crocker. Collectively known as the Evil Syndicate, this fearsome-foursome combine their dastardly powers to create the diabolical Doomsday Device while unleashing an army of evil on the unsuspecting worlds of Dimmsdale, Bikini Bottom, Amity Park, and Retroville.

Brain-blasting a plan to save the day, Jimmy uses his 'Universe Portal Machine' to scour the multiverse for a little help of his own, drafting no other then Danny Phantom , Timmy Turner, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Only by working together as a team can they defeat the villainous Syndicate and destroy the dangerous Doomsday Device once and for all!

[edit] Characters

[edit] Playable Characters

  • Jimmy Neutron: The smartest kid in Retroville, Jimmy Neutron's a certified super genius. He has the Tornado Blaster, Shrink Ray, Neutron Flare, and Quarterback Gear.
  • Danny Phantom: Danny Fenton may look like an ordinary teenager, but when duty calls he slips into action as Danny Phantom, an extraordinary spectral superhero with a ghostly host of other-worldy powers. He packs a good Ghost Punch, and can use his ghostly powers to Over Shadow and Phase Shift. He also has Ghostly Wail.
  • Timmy Turner: His Fairy God Parents, Cosmo and Wanda, grant his every wish... as long as they're within"Da Rules". His wishes don't always work out as planned, but he always manages to set things straight in the end. He has his green STAR FLINGER, which is Cosmo, and the pink unlimited bacpack ammo is Wanda. He can turn into an Eskimo with ice powers, and Cleft the Boy Chin wonder! He also can use Cosmo and Wanda to heal his friends.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants: He has his karate foam gloves, his water soaking ability, and his DoodleBob airplane, which lures enemies. Also, he can create Bubble Bombs, which explode on contact!

[edit] Bosses

  • Mr. Denzel Crocker: First SpongeBob must toss Bubble Bombs at him, then Timmy has to destroy the generators. Also, he can be damaged through Danny's punches and ghostly wail.
  • Professor Finbarr Calamitous as well as the previously said Syndicate members: To defeat them the player must line up the bridges, shut down each Syndicate member's energy shields, and attack until each member's health is depleted. The player must defeat Calamitous last.

[edit] Mini-Bosses

  • Walker: In level one Vlad sends the player into the Ghost Zone Prison, and the player must defeat Walker to escape.
  • Jellyfish Harvesters: Plankton is using these machines to capture jellyfish. Jimmy must shrink them down so the player can hit them.
  • Giant Fleabot: During the player's journey through Goddard's system they must defeat a giant robotic flea in order to move on.

[edit] Gameplay

A player can play with three computers and no other human players, or with a friend or two with the remaining computer(s). One can switch abilities, which have multiple uses. For example, if four people are playing, a path full of enemies could be crossed with Danny's Ghostly Wail, Spongebob's Bubble Bombs, Jimmy's Quartback gear, and Timmy's healing melody.

The difficulty and length of the game becomes greater with multiple human players. If there is at least one computer, a certain button can be used to Regroup with computerized team member(s).

There are also things only a certain character can do. For example, SpongeBob is needed to blow up a pillar, Danny is needed to Ghostly Wail on some glass, Timmy is needed to freeze some water, or Jimmy has to shoot down some things with his flare gun.

At one point of the game, the player has to cross over a hole with Danny, who can hover when in Phase Shift, and then have SpongeBob toss over a Bubble Bomb. Danny must then pick it up, and throw it at a crack in the wall to find a lever. This is extremely difficult when done alone.

Goddard can be found in all four worlds so he can upgrade the players weapons and abilities.

[edit] Nickelodeon Cross Save Bonuses

These bonuses can be unlocked by saving Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants!, and Barnyard.

  • The first bonus is new costumes for the main characters, such as SpongeBob dressed as Mermaidman.
  • The second bonus is conceptual art made during the game's development of bosses, enemies, worlds, and main characters.
  • The third bonus is various cheats for the game that can be turned on or off.

[edit] Trivia

  • In this game, SpongeBob is only a bit shorter than Jimmy and Timmy but in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, the Cyclops (who really was a scuba diver) and David Hasslehoff were like giants to SpongeBob. SpongeBob's actual size is unknown.
  • The console version of the game is the second non-cel-shaded Fairly OddParents game. (The first one was Toon Twister 3-D.)
  • There is a sequel called Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island. In it, Danny, Spongebob, and Timmy, along with other allies from their own shows, battle for control of a tropical island. Jimmy appears in this game, but he isn't playable.
  • This game takes place after The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour; this is made obvious by Jimmy still believing Cosmo & Wanda to be holograms, and Timmy flirting with Cindy.
  • Crocker's palace is based off of Abra-Catastrophe!
  • This game might take place before The League of Villains due to Calamitous, and many other JN villains, being trapped in the late Cretatious era in that episode.
  • The game says can play in all four worlds, but Jimmy Neutron's town, Retroville, does not appear. The game also said you can play in Dimmsdale, but all the scenes in Timmy's world take place in Fairy World.
  • These are the characters in the game who speak but aren't voiced. (* means they don't speak at all)
  • Originally SpongeBob's Bubble Wand was his basic attack and Timmy had a magic wand, these were used for the Game Boy Advance version.
