Nickelodeon moonshoe

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nickelodeon Moon Shoe, an offshoot product first depicted in the youth television show Double Dare, became a common household toy during the early to mid 1990s. Comprised of merely a large plastic oval (the outer casing) attached to a free floating inner plank, the moon shoe potentially enables the wearer to jump and hop around, simulating the effect of a personal trampoline, or more surrealistically, a walk on the face of the moon. Thick, supporting rubber bands attach the main two components together, yielding a "bouncing" sensation through tension and release of the stretched bands.

As its popularity increased throughout the 1990s, numerous companies began making generic versions of the plastic Moon Shoe, contributing to the short lived craze which would eventually die out with the cancelling of many high adventure children's programs such as Legends of the Hidden Temple and GUTS. Recently, Big Time Toys released their own version of the product called "Moon Shoes" which is often seen during commercial breaks on Nickelodeon.
