Nick Martin

Nick Martin is an award winning broadcaster and former newspaper reporter working in the United Kingdom. He is currently the North of England Correspondent for Channel 4 News based in Leeds.
He was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 28th June 1978 and educated at Monkseaton Community High School, Whitley Bay in north east England. In July 1999, he started as a trainee reporter on the Whitley Bay News Guardian - a free weekly newspaper. After three years he moved to ITV Border in Carlisle as a Producer and later a Reporter and Presenter of the station's flagship evening news programme Lookaround. During his career he has been awarded for his work in both newspapers and television. Most notably Royal Television Society Reporter of the Year in 2004 and Royal Television Society Newcomer of the Year in 2003.
He was also named ITV News Young Journalist of the Year 2004, Society of Editors UK Newcomer of the Year, Northern Newcomer of the Year and Weekly Newspaper Journalist of the Year in 1999 at the Tom Cordner North East Press Awards.
