Nick Lawrence (born January 1966) is a radio and local TV presenter. From summer 2004 - October 2006, he used to be a radio presenter for the BBC's regional programme for the east of England between 7pm and 10pm every weekday. He was born and brought up in Halifax, West Yorkshire. He went to the Crossley Heath School. At university he studied a Drama and Theatre Studies course.
The regional show, now presented by Sue Marchant, came from the studios of BBC Radio Norfolk in The Forum, Norwich. It was broadcast across BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Northampton, Suffolk, as well as BBC Essex and BBC Three Counties Radio (for Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire). Nick previously hosted Three Counties' breakfast show, from October 2001. His evening radio show did not focus on regional topics, but mostly subjects of national importance, often that had been covered on the front page of The Independent newspaper that day. He often re-iterated the fact that the UK was a relatively wealthy country, so how could so many perceived social inequalities occur? It was a naïve generalisation to say that Britain was comparatively wealthy, because in many circumstances, state spending is far from limitless, and economic realities can rarely be sidestepped.
He does TV reports for BBC East's Inside Out on a Monday evening, and Nicky Campbell's Watchdog on BBC1.
