Nick Compton

Nicholas Richard Denis Compton (born Durban, South Africa June 26, 1983) is a South African-born English cricketer.

He is the son of the former Natal cricketer Richard Compton (the third son of Denis Compton) and was educated at Harrow, where he captained the 1st XI and Durham University. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-spin bowler, He is also the grandson of English footballer and cricketer Denis Compton, and the great-nephew of Leslie Compton.

Representing England Under 19s, in 1999 and 2000 respectively he was offered the accolade of Middlesex Under-17 batsman of the season, followed by the Under-19 player of the season.

He received the award named after his grandfather for the most promising Middlesex player in 2001 and 2002. Injury set him back for the 2003 and 2004 seasons, during which he was unable to perform and he only played in one first-class match in 2005. He established himself in 2006, with a string of strong scores, including five centuries versus Oxford University at the Parks, Warwickshire at Edgbaston,Kent, Durham and Nottinghamshire at Lord's.

He is currently playing for the England 'A' team in Bangladesh and has scored a large century in one of the matches.
