[edit] Results template
Why though? This format looks absolutley awful, the boxes are no where close to being equal lengths and it scrolls off of the screen on 1024x768 resolution monitors, I really hope you decide to change this formatting. --shanda 11:27, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Here are two screenshots, one of the Serie A table and the other of the Bundesliga results table [1] [2] and in my opinion the Bundesliga table looks better, although the Serie A table is easier to understand since the full team names are shown in the away team column. What is your opinion? --shanda 11:52, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I am using Mozilla Firefox, but I checked how it looked in Internet Explorer and it looks just like your screenshot, so I am guessing Mozilla doesn't support vertical text, I have the latest version so their isn't a problem there. Looking like that it definately looks better. No way to support Firefow browsers then I guess? --shanda 12:17, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I know what you mean, I have had difficulties with .PNG's showing transparencies in IE where as they work fine in Mozilla without needing to adjust the stteings of the .PNG file. I guess then again since Firefox is still only a browser that a small majority of Internet users use then IE's functionality should take precendent. --shanda 12:42, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Serie A
I added the context template because it is impossible to know what this page is for based on the text currently included. I understand it is a subpage, but you can't count on somebody visiting it only through the main page. What I would suggest is a single sentence that explains what the user is looking at (which, as I understand it, is a football schedule). Erechtheus 18:43, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Football Transfers
I welcome the idea of having such a discussion. However, one a purely pragmatic level, I suggest that you add a membership section to the project page. Any project with no listed members is technically eligible for deletion. Also, you might want to look at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide for help in formatting the project and the page. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 15:08, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Superliga results
You posted this at my talk page:
Just to say that the results table you replaced on the Superliga page looks perfect using every browser except Firefox. Its only on firefox that the names along the top are shown horizontally instead of Vertically. Table itself is perfect and prob looks better than the one you are using at present. Niall123 20:58, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
But I can't really understand what you mean. Are you talking about Portuguese Liga, or 2006-07 in Portuguese football? Also, I use Firefox but as I read this comment and tried it on IE and it (results table on 2006-07 article) looks the same on both, with the names on the top horizontally. I don't know how to do it vertically. Also, I didn't understand this: Table itself is perfect and prob looks better than the one you are using at present. -- What do you mean? I like the table as it is on the 2006-07 article now, I was the one who put it, the one that was there before was too large and not very good-looking or user-friendly, because you had to move the window to the right to see some of the results. Now it looks much better, for me. Explain better what you mean. Sorry :-) --Serte 23:13, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hm, now I see what you mean, but... I don't know, in IE your looks a lot better, but in Firefox it really looks awful and the one that is there looks ok in both. Maybe it should stay, more and more people are using Firefox these days... I don't know, if the problem could be solved so that Firefox users can also see it as well... I don't know... --Serte 23:28, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Italian Football
I appreciate your invitation, this is a very good idea for a project. I will be happy to contribute the best way I can. Please let me know what you think of my suggestion to dedicate a page to Serie A records, which I posted in Talk:Serie A. Thanks again. --ChaChaFut 18:50, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, I'm going to try and help as much as I can, but not right now, because I am currently taking a short break from Wikipedia, but you can count on me in the next few weeks or so. --- Tha Eastsydah 00:04, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Hello Niall. For player template can use Template:Infobox Football biography same other players. Thanks again --- Piniricc65 10:16, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, then, I've already made two edits, but I'll leave you to your work. Thanks for telling me and keep up the good work. Sorry for any trouble or inconvenience. Cheers--Serte 23:38, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AC Milan - notable players
Don't you think that some of the players you added made too few appearances with AC Milan to be considered as notable players? Ayala, Blomqvist, Bogarde, Davids, Dugarry, Greaves, Kluivert, Laudrup, Lehman, Reiziger, Viera, Ziege: I think none of them played more than 15/20 games with the Rossoneri. How about removing them? – Luxic 19:03, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, as you said, the matter is the definiton of "notable players". In my opinion, it would be better to list only players who are notable for what they achieved with that team, especially if the team at issue is a major team. Otherwise the list may become really long, and players that made history with that team would be mixed with others that played only a few games and are famous for having played somewhere else. – Luxic 20:24, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Football templates
I've noticed you've been updating the colours on various English football league templates. You will probably find User:Tompw/leaguetemplates and/or User:Tompw/allclubs useful for making sure you done them all :-). (I should really resume work on non-League football stuff...). Tompw 23:20, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, that was quick! Thanks for updating the colours on all. Yes, it does go down a lot lower than than Italian leagues, primarily because this the English-language wikipedia, and hence more inetrest in local English leagues than local Italian ones. Also, I don't think its worth applying {{Tnavbar-header}} to them, as they already have an edit link. To be honest, I'm not very much in favour of collapsable templaes.... personally feel it would be much better if WP had an option under "my preferences" so that they all displayed collapsed/uncollapsed, according to persional taste. Tompw 13:47, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edit summaries
Is there any chance of you please using edit summaries when editing pages? It makes it a lot easier for other editors to see what has been done to a page without always having to check the history of each edit. - fchd 19:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A.C. Milan template
I slightly modified it, on the basis of other club templates (such as Liverpool and Chelsea). I removed AC Milan ladies, becuase, although ACF Milan does exist, it has nothing to do with AC Milan. I also added Milan Channel; if I have time, I'll write something about it. – Luxic 12:00, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Coppa Italia template
Hi, I've seen you've made a template for the Coppa Italia. I don't see any usefulness in it, as the template set for Italian Serie A clubs is becoming actually too much invasive, and in addition half of the 2006/07 Italian Cup teams have been eliminated in early August. I ask you to consider different ways to refer to possible Italian Cup season, rather than the template mash Wikipedia is quickly becoming. --Angelo 19:25, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Serie A Template
My intention was to create a single page for every season, like 1929-30 in English football, beacuse those pages would have fit better in "Category:Football (soccer) by year", but I understand... I will join soon your progect ;) Speirdyke 15:58, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please avoid links to disambiguation pages
I noted that you have added several biographies of Italian football players, where Italian was a link to Italian, which is a disambiguation page. These links should be avoided, rather linking to the specific meaning which is intended. In the case of biographies, the manual of style recommends specifying the nationality of the person, so for Italians the link should point to Italy ([[Italy|Italian]]). I have updated that for the existing biographies. WolfgangFaber 01:16, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dida flare.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Dida flare.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 11:50, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] {{fb start}} etc.
Hi there - no worry about the template stuff - I'd been meaning to do it myself. All I did was correct a slip you'd made with the Man U page. And it was good - it inspired me to re-work {{Arsenal F.C.}} to use it as well! So all good really. Qwghlm 23:53, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Serie B
Hey Nalli, someone's nominated the Serie B 2006/2007 league calendar for deletion. The first five comments to the deletion page have all agreed that the page should be deleted. I think its worth saving but I don't know if I want to go through the aggrevation of arguing with them. What do you think? Juveboy 04:44, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] La Liga and Serie A deletion
I can't believe they want to delete La liga results by month I mean we've worked so hard on them. I think we should keep them but i read in the deletion page that maybe we could take them into a football wiki. What do you think? I think it would be a good idea.
- Can you provide me with a link to the football wiki? Juveboy 01:32, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Goalscorers deletition
Hi, I'm just letting you know that I've taken the goalscorers case to the deletition review here: 3 January 2007 and that your arguments would be appreciated to keep these articles. You can also bring up the results by month case, which was also deleted. 190.40.185.235 15:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Butchering of Soccer Pages
I was away for 2 weeks and was unable to support you guys in your effort to save some of the pages that you worked so hard to maintain. I came back and noticed both results and goalscorer statistics just wiped out for various leagues. Is there a reason why this is happening? Juveboy 09:00, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- The reasoning they used to justify deleting those pages could be used to delete 80% of the sports content in wikipedia. It was easy for them to pick out detailed results and goalscorer statistics as they were listed on separate, stand-alone pages. Similar data can be found in so many pages but those statistics make up only part of a larger page, and it seems they are not willing to start deleting paragraphs or sections from these large pages. For example, why is it ok for the Champions League results to remain? Also, if one looks at Euro2008 pages, there are listings of past and future fixtures. The fixture results of Euro2008 are just as detailed as the Serie A fixture results were, however, the standings and future fixtures are all on same page as the results. I can probably find a lot more examples. Maybe the answer is to add an additional section to the current 2006/2007 pages, showing fixture results. They probably could not be as detailed or else the page would become too big. On the other hand, one could say that the results chart serves that purpose and we just need to accept the butchering that took place. I also didn't like the fact that the person who made the final decision to delete the specific article didn't really provide a reason why he came up with his decision and did not provide guidance on how this situation could be avoided in the future. Juveboy 01:30, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Beckham move to Los Angeles Galaxy
Hi there. I notice you voted in the above afd, unfortunately the afd had already been closed, with the result a speedy keep on the grounds that the article in question was linked from the main page (on the 'in the news' section). However, as soon as this changes, it can be renominated. So I reckon it will probably be renominated in the next day or so. Just letting you know in case you want to have your say in the next afd. Robotforaday 21:40, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] More Inconsistency
I just came across the following page:2006 Indianapolis Colts season. Look at the in-depth detail for every game played, and this kind of page exists for all 30 NFL teams. I am sure no one would dare nominate these pages for deletion. I feel like throwing this in the faces of those who decided to delete the Serie A detailed results. 74.113.196.37 04:36, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding Serie A 2006-07
Sorry, Niall123, are you objecting to my moving the point about the cessation of play to the top? (See MarkA12) I agree with what I think you're saying -- that it is very unfortunate. Nonetheless, it did happen, and if you're writing an article about the current season, I think it's the most important thing to say about the season right now and therefore belongs at the top. Once play begins again, it should move down. On my other edits, the removal of the point penalties, perhaps you're right. It was a difficult paragraph to follow, so I tried to clean it up. Taking out the details about the penalties was not done with bad intent, but perhaps it was hasty. Can we work out a way to improve how it reads while also keeping the details in there, if you feel that they are important? On the addition of the Reuters article, I did float that idea on the talk page first, and got no objections, so I added it in at the same time. I have no objection to its removal if it is controversial in your mind. If you'd like, we can move this discussion to the talk page there. Just let me know. I'm a relative newbie here, and I am just getting my feet wet. I didn't mean to tackle with my cleats up on this one!--MarkA12 15:40, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Niall123, looking back at my edits, I can see that they were pretty hefty, especially to an article that has an established community watching over it. Sorry about that, Mate! I was a little ambitious there. Let's leave it at this. I'm a pretty good editor, a writer in real life. Let me know if you'd like my help on this thing. If so, just drop a note on my userpage. I promise to be a little less wholesale in my changes in the future, and a little more sensitive to how my edits to an article like this might appear to be, what, made with an agenda (which I assure you, they were not).--MarkA12 16:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
