Niall Williams (born 1958 in Dublin) is an Irish writer. He went to University College Dublin where he obtained a Masters degree in American literature. Here he met his wife, Christine Breen, from Katonah, New York. After working as copywriter in New York City, he left America in 1985 to start writing. He has written four plays, four novels and four non-fiction stories from Ireland. He is married to Christine Breen of Katonah, New York and has two teenage children, Deirdre (1987) and Joseph (1991).
