Ngee Ann Poly Student Division

Ngee Ann Poly Student Division (义安理工学院学生部) was part of the formation of the Singapore Soka Association's Student Division in 1984, together with students in Singapore Polytechnic, National University of Singapore and Nanyang University (presently Nanyang Technological University). The mascot for Ngee Ann Poly Student Division (NRPSD) is the Lighthouse and the motto is "Together We Win (共胜).

[edit] Origin of NRPSD's Mascot - the Lighthouse
There were possibly three instances which Mr Ikeda mentioned the Lighthouse in his works. One was a poem in which he expressed his determination to be a great guiding force to the people around him.
I work hard at my faith
I will be a beacon light
a small yet a great light
that people can trust and take ease in.

The second instance was in the New Human Revolution where he encouraged the Suikokai members during a training retreat at the seaside - to become wonderful leaders who can guide the people away from suffering and towards happiness, just like how a lighthouse guides ships away from dangerous rocks and safety towards its ultimate destination.

Activities organised by the Student Division (SD) includes Campus Connection, campus dialogues, prayer meetings (daimokukai), study meetings, Student Conferences and even soccer matches between YMDs (Young Men Division) from different institutions. Important occasions of the Student Division includes its Anniversary on February 18. In the year 2006, the SD Anniversary will feature skits on the Soka University and some cultural performances.
