This galaxy is generally called NGC 6240. The name "Starfish Galaxy" appears to be unused outside of websites that copied Wikipedia and one amateur astronomer's website (who cannot call himself an authority on naming galaxies). The NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database and the SIMBAD database (linked to at the bottom of the article) do not list the name. Therefore, "Starfish Galaxy" is probably a generally unaccepted name.

The amount of information on this galaxy is somewhat overwhelming. I am certain that this article is far from complete after my edit on 17 Aug 2006.
