NGC 2440 is a planetary nebula, one of some 1,500 in our galaxy. Its central star, a white dwarf (HD 62166[1]), has an exceptionally high surface temperature of 200,000 degrees Celsius.[citation needed] The nebula is situated in the Puppis constellation.
