Template talk:NFL Stadiums

- If anyone objects to Candlestick Park being designated Monster Park please notify me before changing it so we can discuss it. I believe based on 99% of the public calling it Candlestick Park and the fact that it will permenantly revert to Candlestick in 2008 are together more then enough justification for it to be labeled as such on this infobox. No one save a few national broadcasters and the 49ers front office refer to the park as Monster Park. To the public and the city council of San Francisco it is Candlestick Park and they would search for it as such accordingly (Mind you it is a public stadium). Gateman1997 16:25, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know how much attention this entry will get, but I am curious as to whether the Louisiana Superdome should have been removed from this template. The structure may not be hosting any games this season, but it is technically still the New Orleans Saints' home field. I don't object to adding the Alamodome and Tiger Stadium, however. Any thoughts? RPIRED 22:18, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- I believe it should be removed for this season as officially it's been determined that the Saints will be playing home games in the other two stadiums, not the Superdome. Once it's determined whether the Saints will return then I think we can bring it back.Gateman1997 23:18, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Monster Park The offical name of the park is monster stadium until 08 then you can change it back to candlestick I realize most fans don't like it the name but we should have a universal standard of the offical name of the stadium otherwise people can say that most people call stadium x: K park so we should leave it as Monster Park as all other stadiums are called by their offical names I am going to switch it to that. I am curious you state it is a public stadium so the city or city agency must have approved the deal with the company in the first place. I know voters approved a referendum was it in 04? to change it back, but as of now it is Monster Park just what was once Oakland Colisuem is McAfee Coliseum Smith03 02:19, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- That's the intersting thing though, it's official name according to the city is Candlestick Park now.Gateman1997 06:17, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
sfgov.org calls it Monster Park Smith03 23:31, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- I was referring to the citizens. According to the vote the majority of the city now refers to the stadium as Candlestick Park. Monster Park is a formality for completing the contract signed with the Monster Cable Company. But for all intents and purposes the stadium is Candlestick Park once again. Should not the name be what it is most commonly call and is for all intents and purposes officially called? Gateman1997 00:02, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
No we should have the same rule for all stadiums otherwise people will make statements that such and such stadium is called by "most people" this instead of the offical name. In 2008 the stadium will be once again Candlestick Park until than it is offically and legally Monster Park. ( I am not crazy about the name Monsterpark but that is what it is) Here in the Twin Cities alot of people call the Metrodome the Humpydome or Homerdome or the Target Center the Discount Center or Xcel Enegry Center as the X. So should thoes names be changed on the templates. The vote in 04 simple stated that the name would go back to candlestick park in 08 once the naming rights deal was overSmith03 00:24, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
