[edit] Montgomery County Section
This is one of those rare instances where I partly (only partly) feel like doing a revert. Not gonna do that though; the addition of the Montgomery County reference marker is great. The mileage of 3.1 is just the Fulton County portion of NY 331. To put in the entire original 331 routing would mean having to change the overall length. (The reference to gribblenation concurs on the Fulton County portion). When I drove 331, I couldn't do the Montgomery county section because a bridge is out on CR 57 long-term (I did my drive on Thanksgiving). Putting it in would also mean having to place a decommissioned label on NY 5; I suppose it's possible but the mileage can't be exact until I can determine exactly which St. Johnsville street is the original route. For now, given that winter should be coming, let it be noted that the route length is inaccurate, and in the spring or at some other point, perhaps I can get the actual route length. - NYSDOT traffic logs show 2.93 miles in Fulton and 0.17 miles in Montgomery. --Polaron | Talk 17:39, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Please see the NYSDOT Traffic Count for NY 305 to NY 427, which indicates that (1) the route length given in the article is accurate and (2) when I added the Montgomery section in my fix, I only added the 0.17 miles that currently exists in Montgomery County. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 17:39, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you (both) for pointing that out, I will only say that the reference markers themselves don't tell the story of the route. There are no markers in Montgomery County, and the Fulton County ones are marked as if the second county of the route. I would have to go back to the markers themselves to see what the last one is at the NY 29 terminus. My drive, though, indicated 3.0 miles (nearest tenth, and it was southbound). Once in Montgomery County, the route changes immediately and is far from State Highway standards. It looks like the county route that it is. Plus, a sign "END 331" is right at the county marker.
