I thought the main reason for the split legislature is that the legislature controls redistricting, so the Senate ensures that district lines are drawn to favor Republicans, and the same for Democrats in the House, and one of Governor-elect Hevesi's possible reforms is to create an independant redistricting commision to draw the lines? - Matthew238 02:00, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
