The newsboy cap is a casual-wear cap similar in style to the flat cap.

[edit] Characteristics

It has the same overall shape and stiff peak in front, but the body of the cap is rounder, fuller, puffier, often paneled, and often with a button attaching the front to the brim. Other names are associated with this cap are the Apple Cap, Eight Panel, the Gatsby (from The Great Gatsby), Fisherman's Cap, Lundberg Stetson.

[edit] History

The style was popular in Europe and the United States in the late 19th and early twentieth centurys among both boys and adult men. As the name suggests, it is now associated with newspaper boys, and it is sometimes associated with wealthy golfers as well. Although traditionally a men's cap, recently the cap has been more popular with women.
