Newnes Glow Worm Tunnel is located in the Wolgan Valley which is part of the Wollemi National Park.

The tunnel was originally carved out of the sandstone cliffs during the late 1800s. After some time Oil Shale mines at Newnes closed down and the railway line was no longer used. Many of the rails have since been removed leaving a tunnel perfect for walkers and hikers.

The tunnel is 402 metres long and the main attraction in recent years has been the thousands of tiny glow worms (Arachnocampa richardsae) which live there.

The site is currently sign posted and maintained by the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service and is open all year.
