The Newcastle Building Society is a UK building society, which has its head office in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, England. It was formed in 1980 as a result of a merger between the Grainger and Newcastle Permanent Building Societies.
In 2006, the Newcastle Building Society merged with another UK building society, the Universal Building Society [1].
