Newburg is a town in Preston County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 360 at the 2000 census. At one time, Newburg was the largest town in Preston County.

Newburg is located at 39°23′15″N, 79°51′4″W (39.387585, -79.850993)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 360 people, 131 households, and 99 families residing in the town. The population density was 175.9/km² (456.9/mi²). There were 155 housing units at an average density of 75.8/km² (196.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.83% of the population.

There were 131 households out of which 42.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.3% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 19.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.13.

In the town the population was spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $24,063, and the median income for a family was $24,688. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $15,000 for females. The per capita income for the town was $9,952. About 28.6% of families and 27.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 32.5% of those under age 18 and 12.5% of those age 65 or over.
