[edit] History

Started as a "side-project" by songwriter Michael and Andrew, New Cut Smile began to expand in 2004 with the additions of Brad (guitar, vocals) and Jaimz (bass). 2004 saw some touring on the local circuit.

2005,however, was a greater success for New Cut Smile. Shows with such bands as The City on Film (Bob Nanna of Braid (band) fame), Owen, and local heroes Dugong and Nathaniel Green saw NCS improve and gain experience. Summer 2005 also saw a CD release The Adventures Of… and a successful tour with The Warlord (Tim, ex-Dugong drum man), in which NCS played their first few shows out of Yorkshire.

2006 saw a few new songs added to the set, and a few notable shows, especially one with Jonah Matranga, Drummer Andrew left the UK for a stint working in a Greece hotel, and Brad and Michael were busy practicing for a one off reunion with Fifth Goodbye, the band that started their music careers off.

2007 has only just begun, but already a complete change of direction with the band has happened. Acoustic guitars make way for Telecasters and everything is louder, falling in line with some of the bands quoted influences, such as The Get Up Kids and The Junior Varsity, but with a very 'West Yorkshire' approach.
