The Ministry of Social Development is a New Zealand government agency which has two main functions: providing social policy advise to the government, and providing social services.

It provides income support and employment services and superannuation through Work and Income; student allowances and loans through Studylink; services to rural clients through Heartland Services; and coordination of services that support families through Families and Community Services.
