New York Water Taxi

New York Water Taxi is a water taxi service offering commuter and sightseeing service to points in New York Harbor, along the Hudson and East rivers.
It should not be confused with the Liberty Water Taxi, which is a separate service that also operates in the harbor.

[edit] Commuter routes
New York Water Taxi currently operates two commuter routes:
- The Brooklyn Army Terminal Commuter Service, serving
- Pier 11 at Wall Street in Manhattan
- The Brooklyn Army Terminal in Brooklyn
- The East River Commuter Service, serving
- Hunters Point in Long Island City in Queens
- East 34th Street in Manhattan
- Schaefer Landing in Williamsburg in Brooklyn
- Fulton Ferry landing in Brooklyn
- Pier 11 at Wall Street in Manhattan
In the Spring of 2007, the company plans to add two additional routes. One will connect the city of Yonkers, in Westchester County, to Manhattan. The other will connect Haverstraw, New York, in Rockland County, to Manhattan.
[edit] Hop/on Hop/off service
During the warmer months, the New York Water Taxi also operates a Hop-On/Hop-Off service, primarily for tourists. They sell a Hop-on/Hop-off pass that allows for unlimited travel for two days between the following stops:

- Fulton Ferry landing in Brooklyn
- South Street Seaport, in Manhattan on the East River
- Battery Park, at the southern tip of Manhattan
- The World Financial Center, in Manhattan on the Hudson River
- Pier 45 at Christoper Street in Greenwich Village, in Manhattan on the Hudson
- Pier 63 at West 23rd Street, in Manhattan on the Hudson
- Pier 84 at West 44th Street, in Manhattan on the Hudson
- Weekends

From South Street Seaport, the New York Water Taxi also offers harbor tours, such as their Gateway to America Tour or the Audubon EcoCruise, and certain special event trips, such as a Fourth of July Fireworks Cruise.

Their terminal in Hunters Point is the site of Water Taxi Beach, a temporary beach operated during the summer on an East River wharf.

Currently, New York Water Taxi operates a fleet of 8 vessels, of two distinct types. Each vessel is named for, according to the company, the "unsung heroes of the New York harbor." The Seymour B. Durst and the Sam Holmes are each capable of carrying 149 passengers at a speed of 26 knots. The Curtis Berger, Mickey Murphy, Ed Rogowsky, John Keith, Schuyler Meyer Jr., and the Michael Mann are each capable of carrying 74 passengers at 24 knots.

Entrepreneur Tom Fox is the company's President. Real estate developer Douglas Durst is the company's Chairman. Travis Noyes is the Vice President of sales and marketing.
