Steele Avenue Extension is the former routing of NY 29A from the city line of Gloversville, New York to NY 29 in the town of Johnstown.
The original routing of NY 29A had it turning off East Fulton Street onto Saratoga Boulevard, meeting with Steele Avenue and continuing as its extension to NY 29. The reference markers outside Gloversville illustrate this original alignment.
When NY 30A, the Arterial, was opened, NY 29A was retained on East Fulton Street, turning right and duplexing with 30A to its intersection with the original route. Later, 29A was routed to the nearby Turkey Farm Road, reaching NY 29 three miles farther east, closer to Vail Mills. 29A markers remain on the route, but is inventoried the NYSDOT as Reference Route 920J.
