New York State Route 474 is located entirely in Chautauqua County, in the westernmost corner of the state. It begins at the section of the Pennsylvania state line that runs north-south, and runs westward, first parallel to the state line, then further north, to end at NY 394 near Chautauqua Lake.

It is a continuation of PA 474, and one of several New York state highways that were renumbered to carry the same numbers as continuing routes in other states. It was once NY 74.
