[edit] Route description

[edit] Monroe County

The westernmost portion of the route is designated as Linden Avenue; the road continues west of Route 96 as Elmwood Avenue. Just east of Route 96, Route 441 crosses over Interstate 490 at exit 23. Route 441 then loses the Linden Avenue marking; Linden Avenue continues parallel to Route 441, before crossing it at an intersection and continuing into East Rochester.

After Linden Avenue leaves the route, Route 441 has no other street name for a while. It briefly enters the Town of Pittsford, where it transitions to a divided highway. Next, the route enters the Town of Penfield. It has one interchange as a highway, with Panorama Trail (New York State Route 153), then returns to being a four-lane undivided road at the intersection with Penfield Road. There, Route 441 picks up the Penfield Road designation.

In Penfield, Route 441 passes through the historic town center, crossing Five Mile Line Road at "Four Corners". A couple of miles east, it enters a commercial district, crossing State Route 250 at "Lloyd's Corners".

[edit] Wayne County

Continuing to the east, Route 441 crosses into the Town of Walworth in Wayne County, becoming Walworth Penfield Road. It terminates at State Route 350.

[edit] History

Route 441 used to follow Penfield Road all the way through Penfield and into Brighton, where it stopped at Route 96 (northwest of its current intersection with that route). The brief divided highway portion was completed in the early 1970s, at which point Route 441 was rerouted along that highway and Linden Avenue.
