New York State Route 3A is a New York state highway that is a loop off of NY-3. Its western terminus is in Deferiet and its eastern terminus is in the hamlet of Fargo in the town of Wilna.
[edit] Route description
The route runs predominantly east-west, with the exception of a small portion near the eastern terminus that forms a reverse "Z", turning to the north from its easterly alignment before returning to the east as it intersects NY 3.
Route 3A acts as a northerly bypass to NY 3, which forms a "V" as it travels south to Carthage before returning north to meet NY 3A in Fargo. NY 3A also runs along the southern edge of the Fort Drum Military Institution and actually enters the facility for a short distance between Deferiet and Fargo.
