[edit] Route description

NY 252A is named Paul Road along its entire length. It does not intersect any state routes other than those at its termini.

From NY Routes 33A and 386 to Beahan Road, NY 252A runs on a near-perfect east-west line. However, from its intersection with Beahan Road to its western terminus at NY 383, the route forms a U, curving sharply around the southern extent of the Greater Rochester International Airport's primary runway.

[edit] History

The entire length of NY 252A was originally NY 252. From the current eastern terminus of NY 252A at NY 383, NY 252 turned south, forming a duplex with NY 383 that lasted until the route reached Jefferson Road, where NY 252 continued to the east on its current alignment. When NY 252 west of NY 383 was realigned onto three roads to the south, including Ballantyne Road, its former alignment on Paul Road was designated NY 252A.
