The 71st New York Film Critics Circle Awards, honoring the best in film for 2005, were given on 12 December 2005 at the Alonquin Hotel, New York, USA.

Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain won 3 awards: Best Picture, Best Actor (Heath Ledger) and Best Director. A History of Violence starring Viggo Mortensen won 2 awards, both for Supporting Performances by Williams Hurt and Maria Bello.
