New Street Law is a British television series, made for BBC One by the Red Production Company and One-Eyed Dog Ltd and created by GF Newman and Matthew Hall.

It stars John Hannah, John Thomson, Paul Freeman, Lisa Faulkner, Chris Gascoyne, Lara Cazalet, Lee Williams, Penny Downie, Don Warrington, Ace Bhatti, Jayne Ashbourne and Joanna Roth.

The story centres around two rival barristers chambers, one headed by Jack Roper (Hannah), which deals with defending clients, the other by Laurence Scammel Q.C. (Freeman), Roper's one-time mentor, which deals with prosecuting them.

Series 1 was shown on BBC1 between 4 May and 21 June 2006. Series 2 is currently being shown every Wednesday at 9pm on BBC1. Series 2 will premiere on BBC Entertainment in Asia starting February 3 2007.[1]

Guest stars in the first series included Diane Keen, Mark Womack, Les Dennis and Nikki Sanderson.

Season 2, episode 1 After being accused of perverting the course of justice, Jack is given bail, but not allowed to practice law - until, that is, the gang recruit an old rival. Meanwhile an outraged member of the public attacks Laura and threatens Jack, disgruntled by the way he got off. Joe and Charlie defend an agent accused of stealing money from a failing manager and Charlie s rejected by Annie, but he continues his infatuation.
