New Reborn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The New Reborn are fictional characters in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. They appeared in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, a video game for the PC and Xbox.
New Reborn were lightsaber-wielding Dark Jedi who joined Tavion's new cult, "The Disciples of Ragnos." They were the successors of Desann's cult of Newborn, These Reborn had a much different appearance than the originals, wearing somewhat bulkier clothing. Their faces from the upper nose down were covered with a mask. They were hooded like the original Reborn, except that their hood was tighter around their head.

[edit] Classification
Note: These classifications are not official, and are merely referred to as such to give the reader a better idea of their behavior and how deadly they are.
New Reborn are classified into these groups:
[edit] Apprentice
- Appearance: Man wearing Blue Heavy Armor and wielding either a single Lightsaber, Dual Sabers, or a Saber Staff
- Lightsaber Style(s): All
- Force Technique(s): Jump, Grip, Rage, Lightsaber Throw, Resistance
- Description: The standards for apprentice have greatly increased since Desann's Invasion. These Reborn can outclass even the Elites of their predecessors, knowing all three styles, and they are even able to perform Lightsaber Throws. They can call upon the force for assistance with saber locks moderately well also. This type of Reborn may be able to stand up against a real Jedi, but it probably does not have a viable chance of victory. Since most Reborn have advanced far beyond this level of skill, apprentices are very few in quantity.
[edit] Standard
- Appearance: Man wearing Red Light Armor and wielding either a single Lightsaber, Dual Sabers, or a Saber Staff
- Lightsaber Style(s): All
- Force Technique(s): Jump, Push, Pull, Speed, Lightning, Grip/Choke, Drain, Rage, Lightsaber Throw, Resistance
- Description: Reborn with commanding Lightsaber Techniques, having mastered all three styles. The knowledge of these Reborn in terms of Dark Side Force Powers is vast, knowing all four of them, in addition to their Core Powers. Can draw upon the Force for assistance in saber locks very well, and dominates most of the time. This is a Reborn that can match a real Jedi in combat, and definitely has a viable chance of victory.
[edit] Master
- Appearance: Man wearing a somewhat bulky Brown Robe and wielding either a single Lightsaber, Dual Sabers, or a Saber Staff
- Lightsaber Style(s): All
- Force Technique(s): Jump, Push, Pull, Speed, Heal, Absorb, Protect, Lightning, Grip/Choke, Drain, Rage, Lightsaber Throw, Resistance
- Description: A Reborn that has mastered all Lightsaber and Force Techniques except Mind Trick. It is also a master at drawing upon the Force for saber locks, and wins all of the time. This is a Reborn that is very superior to a Jedi, to the point where it would take a sizeable squad of Jedi to defeat one. During the fight on Korriban, one Master single-handedly killed three Jedi simultaneously, and required the intervention of Jaden Korr to bring him down. Especially skilled Reborn like this were very rare, however. In fact, there were only four ever seen in the service of the Disciples of Ragnos, all of which were killed by Jaden.

[edit] Disciples of Ragnos
The Reborn that survived Desann's invasion of the Jedi Academy joined Tavion's new cult, named the Disciples of Ragnos. They served as her defense force as she siphoned Dark Side energy from various worlds, like Yavin, Hoth, Byss, and many others. The only failed attempt was at Chandrilla, where Jaden thwarted the Cultists and resealed the Jedi Tomb. After Tavion stole enough energy, she and her entire cult gathered at Korriban, in and around the Tomb of Ragnos. The Jedi intercepted them, and a massive battle ensued, the likes of which hadn't been seen since the Jedi Civil War four millennia ago. The Reborn and Cultists killed a great number of Jedi, far surpassing Desann's invasion. They still excelled at teamwork, but could now stand against Jedi on their own, and had much less in the way of flaws such as training and discipline. However, they were defeated in this battle when Tavion died and the sceptor fell out of their hands.
[edit] Defeat?
[edit] Light Side Ending
Luke Skywalker states that all the Cultists lost their powers when Tavion was defeated by Jaden Korr and the sceptor was destroyed. However, since the Reborn obtained their powers from the Valley of the Jedi, it is possible that they could still be at large. This is further emphasized with the fact that Luke said that all Cultists lost their powers, which may or may not only refer to the non-saber-wielding force users and their single-bladed partners.
[edit] Dark Side Ending
Jaden Korr kills Tavion, takes the sceptor, defeats Kyle Katarn, and escapes aboard a hijacked Star Destroyer. Since the sceptor was not destroyed, neither the remaining Reborn nor the Cultists would have lost their powers, meaning the Reborn would still be at large, but stranded on Korriban since the Star Destroyer was hijacked.
Note: The canonical ending is unknown. Jaden is later featured helping Jan Ors, so it is speculated that Jaden remained on the Light path. But it is also speculated that he turned to the Dark Side, but was converted back to the Light Side, so the ultimate fate of the Reborn is unknown.
