New London is a city in Henry County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,937 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,937 people, 794 households, and 540 families residing in the city. The population density was 740.5/km² (1,924.9/mi²). There were 846 housing units at an average density of 323.4/km² (840.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.40% White, 0.31% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.46% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.77% of the population.

There were 794 households out of which 31.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.9% were non-families. 27.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 88.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $39,432, and the median income for a family was $46,389. Males had a median income of $31,324 versus $23,712 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,301. About 4.8% of families and 6.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.0% of those under age 18 and 10.8% of those age 65 or over.
