New Kent High School is a public high school located in New Kent, Virginia, east of Richmond but a new facility is under construction. It is part of the New Kent County School Division. The school was the center of controversy in the 1968 Supreme Court case Green v. School Board of New Kent County, in which the court defined what the standards of Brown v. Board of Education were in the desegregation cases. This decision ended the era of Massive Resistance and ushered in the era of Integration. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA Bay Rivers District in Region I.
