New Entrepreneur Scholarship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The New Entrepreneur Scholarships Programme (NES) helps people living in disadvantaged areas of the UK to start in business. If you have a business idea, but don’t know how to take it forward, or you’re finding it difficult to start up: the NES may be the programme for you.
NES, which is funded by the Learning and Skills Council and managed by the NFEA, Association of Business Schools (ABS) and The Princes Trust, aims to overcome these difficulties by providing a comprehensive package of support, mentoring and funding in order to encourage and support the start-up and growth of new businesses.
Skills to help you run a business
• A minimum of 90 hours part-time business and personal skills training run over four to six months. The actual content and sessions are flexible, but cover essential business skills such as marketing and business planning, bookkeeping and areas including motivation, presentation and selling skills.
Funding
• After you have completed the business support phase of the programme and prepared your business plan, you may be eligible to apply for financial support of up to £1500 to purchase items essential to your business.
Advice from experts
• Up to nine months ongoing support and advice to help you develop your new business. Support from a mentor is provided along with additional services such as networking sessions, business exhibitions, further workshops and business clubs.
