[edit] Synopsis
Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach are eating spaghetti when Bowser, along with his Koopalings, come to the Mushroom Kingdom to tell them that they are calling it quits. He then acts very remorseful, hands the princess the key to his castle, and leaves the Mushroom Kingdom with his Koopalings. Peach then declares that she can turn the castle into a retirement home, so Mario goes with her to Bowser's Castle.
When they arrive, they see that enemies still infest the place, and they are kidnapped by Bowser! They learn that they were tricked all along, and Bowser uses this as an example of how to cheat people so that Larry may learn how to cheat people one day. Bowser them infests the cell with Bob-Ombs unless the Princess signs the Kingdom over to him. Luigi and Toad then arrive at his castle, only to be kidnapped too. The Princess is brought out of the cell to sign the scroll. Larry then orders the Sledge Bros. nearby to lock the rest in his wardrobe in his room (Bowser is not in the room at the time) and to take the Princess to his room. He then asks the Princess for the kingdom, and she accepts. She then busts the Mario Bros. and Toad out of the wardrobe, and look for Super Leaves.
In the throne room, Bowser is ready to accept the kingdom, only to know that Larry got it first. Bowser then looks at the scroll, and tells Larry that they were both cheated (Peach actually drew a clown on the scroll), and they see the group fly away. Koopa angerly chases Larry across his throne.
[edit] Trivia/Goofs
- At the beginning, the Koopalings that come with Bowser keep changing. First, Wendy, Iggy, and Roy come with him. Next, Lemmy joins the group when Bowser declares that they are leaving the Mushroom Kingdom. And finally, only Wendy, Iggy, and Lemmy jump into the warp pipe at the end of Bowser's remorsefulness.
- This is the only episode in the Mario cartoon series to show the Princess eating something.
- When Larry and Peach are in the room talking over the kingdom, the wardrobe that Mario, Luigi and Toad are locked in keeps appearing and disappearing.
- Larry's head keeps changing from orange to green a few times in the episode.
- Luigi is swimming with Toad hanging on to his leg. When Toad sees a Boss Bass, Luigi's pants are red! ([1])
- When Luigi and Toad get to the pipe, there is a lid on the entrance. When Luigi starts working on the pipe, the lid is not there. When Luigi gets the pipe open, the lid appears out of nowhere! ([2])
- When Mario and Peach are attacked by a Thwomp, the portraits of the Koopa family in the background lose a lot of detail. In fact, they look like completely different portraits.
- Some time after Bowser loses the Mushroom Kingdom crown, when you see a scene where he is dashing behind his throne, he is wearing his original Koopa crown. He isn't wearing any crown at all in the next scene.
- In the beginning, when Bowser says he's leaving the Mushroom Kingdom forever, Wendy's entire face is brown!
- When Luigi and Toad are trying to save Mario and Peach, they see a Sledge Brother. The front of his shell changes to orange for a few seconds. Spotted by Freezy Toad.
- When Princess Peach is signing the deed for the Mushroom Kingdom, her dress chages from pink to white, and then when she gives Larry the deed it changes back to pink.
- The original VHS release for this episode mistakenly featured a picture based off of "Recycled Koopa" on the cover.
