Netro is an established Internet Service Provider located in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

[edit] History

Netro was started in March 1995 by Managing Director Ray Overdijk in a Townhouse located near North Ryde. The original network featured a bank of 16 Dialup Modems connected to the Internet via a 64 Kb ISDN link from Access One (who were acquired by Ozemail in 1998, who in turn were acquired by UUNET in 2000 during the Dot-Com Boom). The original mail and web server was called Picard (named after the Captain from the popular TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation), which had a Pentium 75 Processor, 32 MB Random Access Memory and a 4 GB SCSI Hard disk running BSD/OS.

With the rapid expansion of the Internet, Netro moved into an office in February 1996 in the North Sydney Central Business District. By April 1998 this office had been outgrown, and Netro moved into a custom built facility nearby. Today Netro provides a full range of Internet Services including National Dialup, ADSL, SHDSL, Domain Name Registration, Web Hosting & Consultancy.
