Netcong Circle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Netcong Circle is a traffic circle located at the intersection of U.S. Route 46 and Route 183 in Netcong, New Jersey. Before Interstate 80 was built and U.S. Route 206 was moved onto its new bypass and then onto Interstate 80 itself, U.S. Route 206 ran along Route 183's current alignment. As a result, the circle was a major intersection of two heavily traveled U.S. Routes.

The circle was built in the late 1930s and will be totally dismantled and replaced[1] with a signalized intersection by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).

There are no definitive guidelines for driving into and around traffic circles in New Jersey, and coupled with heavy congestion and blind spots, the Netcong Circle is a traffic hazard.[citation needed] It is the site of numerous automobile accidents and a major traffic choke point for the region.[citation needed]
