NetJets

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NetJets is a company which offers fractional ownership and rental of private jets. Fractional ownership starts at 1/16th of a plane giving the fractional owner 50 hours of flying time.

NetJets Inc. (formerly Executive Jet, Inc.) was founded in 1964 as the first private business jet charter and aircraft management company in the world. The NetJets program was created in 1986 by Richard Santulli, the Chairman and CEO of NetJets Inc. as the world's first fractional aircraft ownership program. In 1998, after being a satisfied NetJets customer for three years, Warren Buffett, Chairman & CEO of the Berkshire Hathaway company acquired NetJets Inc.

With NetJets fractional aircraft ownership, people are able to gain all the convenience, access, and time advantages of owning a jet aircraft but at a fraction of the cost of owning one. NetJets fractional shares currently start at $406,250 for a 1/16 interest (the equivalent of 50 hours of annual flying time) in a Hawker 400XP. The monthly management and occupied hourly fees cover nearly all expenses. If fewer flight hours are needed, participants can still fly on NetJets with a Marquis Jet Card which is sold in single-year, 25-hour increments. Fractional aircraft ownership enables people to fly on their own terms from the airport closest to their home/office to the airport closest to their final destination. The fleet that NetJets operates enables access to over 5,000 airports worldwide. Owning a NetJets share enables people to exchange (or interchange) among 14 different jet types in a global fleet which is distributed between NetJets Aviation, NetJets International, NetJets Europe, NetJets Middle East and NetJets Large Aircraft companies.

The NetJets fractional aircraft ownership program is made available through the NetJets family of operating companies. NetJets Inc. is a Berkshire Hathaway company.
