Nescaflowné
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nescaflowné is a widely distributed parody fandub inspired by the anime series The Vision of Escaflowne. It uses footage from that series and from the theatrical film Escaflowne. Amateur voice actors supplied the audio track.
The film tells the story of Hitmi (pronounced "hit me"), a girl from Tokyo who is whisked to another world. There she becomes a factor in a war between the Starbach Empire and the little kingdom of Folgeria, and falls in love with the Folgerian prince Juan Valdez. The center of the war is the formula for Folgeria's coffee, whose popularity threatens Starbach's dominance of the market.
Eventually Hitmi discovers that she has the power to manipulate holes in "the plot", an ability that threatens the omniscience of the Starbach emperor Khan Seannery.
Nescaflowné satirizes not only the original series, including the ending, but also numerous other aspects of popular culture, from the voice and accent of actor Sean Connery to the eccentricities of musician David Bowie.
It is frequently compared to This Is Otakudom, a fandub that was released a year earlier.
