Nepenthes reinwardtiana Miq. (1852) |
Nepenthes reinwardtiana (after K. G. K. Reinwardt, founder of Buitenzorg (now Bogor) Botanic Gardens) is a Nepenthes species found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. N. reinwardtiana has an unusually wide altitudinal distribution of 0-2100 m, being both a "lowland" and "highland" plant. There are many different colour forms, ranging from green to dark red. This species is famous for the two "eye spots" on the inside surface of its pitchers.
N. reinwardtiana is most closely related to N. naquiyuddinii, from which it differs in several aspects of pitcher and leaf morphology.
