Nepenthes adrianii Batoro, Wartono, Jebb et al. (2006) |
Nepenthes adrianii (after Adrian Yusuf, who discovered it in 2004) is a species of tropical pitcher plant native to Central Java. It is the only known Nepenthes species endemic to the island, unless Nepenthes gymnamphora and N. pectinata or N. xiphioides are considered separate species. It is found at elevations above 950 m. The plant is an epiphytic species and can usually be found growing in the canopies of trees 15-25 m tall.
N. adrianii is similar in many respects to N. spathulata, a Sumatran endemic.
N. adrianii has no known natural hybrids. No forms or varieties have been described, although wild populations of this species exhibit considerable variability.
