The Neowhig Party is a fictional American political party that is largely viewed as a minor Internet spoof of a typical political party. The Party, which advocates extreme but humorous positions on the issues, takes its name from the earlier Whig Party of the 19th century. The Neowhig party is planning on running a real candidate for the upcoming 2008 election. Kip Smithy, a character, will be replaced in mid 2007 by a soon-to-be-named candidate

[edit] Platform

Some of the tenets of the Neowhig Party platform include the following:

  • Mandatory death penalty for graffiti.
  • Corporal punishment will be re-instituted in the public schools, and capital punishment where needed.
  • Operation Latino Outreach -- bull-fighting would be legalized in all 50 states.
  • Commitment by the United States to developing a dilithium-based warp drive engine by the year 2025.
  • Every town with a population of over 400 must have at least one Starbucks, preferably two.
  • All flight attendants would be required to be female, under the age of 30, unmarried and Swedish.
  • Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Vermont would lose statehood and revert to colony status.
  • The name of the Commonwealth of Virginia will be changed to East Virginia.
  • Speed limits and parking meters would be prohibited by constitutional amendment.
  • "What, Me Worry?" would replace E Pluribus Unum as national motto.
  • John Wayne to replace Franklin Roosevelt on dime.

[edit] Candidates

In 2004, Chester "Chest" Notgerman and his running mate, Travis J. Offenberger, ran for the office of President on the Neowhig ticket. For the 2008 election, Kip Smithy and a yet-to-be-chosen running mate, will run for President.
