The term Neogoth describes a member of the modern Goth subculture.

After the early gothic and darkwave movement stagnated and faded between the middle and the end of the 1990s, new kinds of music developed on the foundations of different overlaps (such as gothic metal and the techno-influenced electrogoth).

This change had also become apparent in the fashion trends and the attitude of a new Goth generation. One part of this development became later known as the Cybergoth movement. Most of these people show an interest in musical genres such as future pop, aggrotech or power noise. Other parts of the Neogoth culture prefer a more metal-influenced spectrum with genres such as shock rock, gothic metal, symphonic metal, dark metal or the neue deutsche härte.

Many members of the Neogoth culture bear no relation to the gothic roots. Hence, they personify more a countermovement to the original Goth subculture.
