Neoclassical (Dark Wave)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neoclassical is a subgenre of darkwave music. Inspired by early music and modern classical, Neoclassical combines library sound samples (orchestra samples, pizzicato, flutes and bell ringing), synthesizers and acoustic instruments (e.g. military snare drums) with the use of opera- or madrigal-like vocals. In the middle of the 1980s, rock- and darkwave groups such as Dead Can Dance (Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun) and In The Nursery (Stormhorse), laid the foundations of this genre.
