NeoRAGEx is the Windows port of NeoRAGE, a Neo-Geo home console/arcade system emulator. The original authors ceased development of the emulator after hacks emerged without their consent. All newer versions that have emerged up to this day are hacks of the original created by emulation groups and fans wanting to play games released for the Neo-Geo.

The emulator is arguably stable. Its graphical and sound emulation was considered to be very accurate for the time. However, they have since been easily superseded by the likes of alternatives such as MAME, Nebula, Final Burn Alpha, and Kawaks. NeoRAGEx doesn't perform any graphical or audio enhancements like other modern emulators.

[edit] History

NeoRAGE (NeoGeo Real Arcade Game Emulator) is the second playable Neo-Geo emulator. The first was a test emulator released in June 1998 which allowed Nam 1975 to be played, but was unfortunately discontinued pending legal threats by SNK.

Since the demise of that Neo-Geo emulator, Anders Nilsson and Janne Korpela (of RAGE fame) released a new NeoGeo emulator, called NeoRAGE.

Later it was updated and superseded by NeoRAGEx by the same authors. The last update of the emulator was in June 2000.
