Nemuro, Hokkaidō

Nemuro (Japanese: 根室市; -shi, Ainu: Ni mu oro) is a city and port located in Nemuro, Hokkaidō. It is the capital city of Nemuro Subprefecture. Much of the city lies on the Nemuro Peninsula.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 32,056 and the density of 62.53 persons per km². The total area is 512.64 km².
The city was founded on August 1, 1957.
