Neill Corlett

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neill Corlett is the creator of the Portable Sound format (PSF), which he developed in 2003 and is the audio format used in files containing sound extracted from the original Sony PlayStation. He later created the PSF2 format for use with PlayStation 2 audio.

He is also notable for his English language fan translations of Seiken Densetsu 3 and Final Fantasy III.

Neill created Dexter, a program that acts as a replacement to original software on the DexDrive (named DexPlorer). In addition to supporting the serial port version of the PlayStation reader, the software also reads and writes from the ePSXe, Connectix Virtual Game Station, Bleem!, and DataDeck memory formats.

He is currently employed at Longtail Studios.

Other things Neill Corlett worked on include:

- MGE, a Gauntlet Emulator

- Starscream - Sometime around the mid 1990's, Neill Corlett created the blazingly fast Starscream 68000 CPU emulator which many developers used in their emulation projects before better CPU cores became available.
