Neil Stonechild

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neil Stonechild (1973-November 25, 1990) was a First Nations teenager who died of hypothermia after Saskatoon police took him outside of the city and abandoned him in a field on a night when temperatures were below -28°C in a practice known as a starlight tour.

In 2003, the Saskatchewan provincial government started a formal inquiry into Stonechild's death; it revealed that many other First Nations men had died just outside city limits under similar circumstances.
