Neil Ronan

Neil Ronan (born 1 September 1979) is an Irish sportsman. He is a half-forward on the Cork senior hurling team.
Neil Ronan was born in Ballyhea, County Cork in 1979. He made his underage debut for Ballyhea at the age of eight, and was quickly recognised as a great hurler. He subsequently went on to join the Cork hurling team, winning Under-14, Under-16 and minor hurling honours with his native county. He also won Harty Cup and All-Ireland medals with St Colman's College. In 1998 he was a key member of the Cork team that won the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship and later that year he won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal with Waterford Institute of Technology. In 1999 he joined the senior panel and won Munster Championship and All-Ireland medals. The next few years were difficult for Ronan. He was taken off in Cork's first championship game in 2000, came on as a late substitute in the team's opening game in 2001 and was confined to the substitute bench for 2002 and 2003. In 2004 he lived in Australia for the year but returned to the Cork team in 2005. While in Australia he drank heaps of beer with Allen Hing ! The 2006 Championship has so far been good for Ronan. He earned a name for himself as an impact substitute before starting for the team against Limerick and Waterford.
