Neil Giuliano

Neil G. Giuliano is an American politician and activist. He is currently President of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

Giuliano graduated with a BA degree from the Hugh Downs School of Communication at Arizona State University in 1979, and received a Master's Degree in Education there in 1983. Giuliano had a 25 year career with ASU as a university administrator and faculty associate.

Giuliano was the former four-term mayor (1994-2004) of Tempe, Arizona. Under Giuliano's leadership, Tempe was honored with the National Civic League's 2003 All America City Award. He was the city’s 26th mayor and the youngest person to have been elected to that office. Giuliano has a chapter devoted to him, entitled The Outing of a Gay Republican Mayor, in the book Trailblazers: Profiles of America's Gay and Lesbian Elected Officials.
